About Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gulaal’- My friend Dipender Singh said “Anurag Kshayap‘s fascination with UV lights in dark rooms is becoming too boring…”. I disagree. Its a style far more refreshing and communicative than eye-candy soft-lighting of the usual hindi films.

My friend is not familiar with rapport and influence of the low profile DOP of the film Rajiv Ravi has on director Anurag Kashyap. Rajiv Ravi’s body of work outside of a few Malayalam films include Chandni Bar, No Smoking, Dev D all of which has a style of work that reminds me of Christopher Doyle who cranks the camera for Wong Kar Wai’s films.

I love their collaborations.

This is Auteur Wong Kar-Wai’s latest short film is lush exercise in the spy story genre. A female robot operative (played by Amélie Duare)chases a man named “The Light”.
